The "Érezni Szabad" approach is more than just a subject—it permeates every aspect of school life. Developing emotional intelligence improves the atmosphere, strengthens community relationships, and contributes to a balanced, happy life for children in the long term.

In the first trimester alone, 427 children participated in EQ classes, and emotional intelligence was featured in the end-of-trimester PDFs. Teachers are learning the tools of the RULER program, while pioneering teams have already begun applying them.

What is a RULER?

Budapest School

At Budapest School, we don’t just teach; we also learn how to understand, accept, and manage emotions ourselves. We introduced the "Érezni Szabad" program so that children can grow up not only smart but also happy and balanced. Because the future belongs to those who not only know but also feel how to live well together. ❤️

During EQ sessions, children learn to recognize and express their emotions and to understand their peers. The goal is to increase awareness, foster cooperation, and strengthen openness and acceptance. Community sessions teach children how to care for one another, manage conflicts, and differentiate between exclusion, asking for help, and tattling.

Children are already using the Mood Meter, which helps them understand and share their feelings. If you'd like to try it at home, we recommend the Mood Meter app, which our teachers also use.

Emotional intelligence will not only help children at school but at home as well—and it will benefit parents too! 😊
