Imagine a new school built in a sustainable way on the banks of the Danube, where children plant crops and learn outdoors. The school walls are decorated with the children’s own creations, and the spaces, themes, and projects are all adapted to their needs. It’s a place for trying, discovering, and questioning.
Or another school where the focus is on self-awareness, emotional education, and high-quality English instruction.
This isn’t a distant dream but two new Budapest School campuses. Hello, BPS Dunakanyar! Hello, BPS Pécs!
The brand-new school is built sustainably, using natural materials, with large windows letting in light and every room designed so children can move freely, create, and think together.
In the garden, raised beds line the yard where children observe how a tiny seed becomes a plant. Learning takes place in the outdoor classroom with a view of the Danube, and one group is working on its own sustainability project. Meanwhile, in the yoga and art room, another group is painting, dancing, or participating in self-awareness games.
At BPS Dunakanyar, learning doesn’t just happen from textbooks: nature-based education, support for emotional growth, and personalized learning paths come together as a whole.
At BPS Pécs, learning is organized around classic BPS values. Children study in varied spaces, flexible groupings, asking questions, experimenting, and collaborating. In one room, a group is designing their own board game, while on the other side another team is using a map to figure out how to get to a future class trip destination.
Learning is experience-based and constantly in motion. The focus is on self-awareness, the development of emotional intelligence, and active engagement with the English language.
The Schools of the Future
Budapest School’s goal is to nurture children into happy, healthy adults who confidently shape their own lives and have a positive impact on the world. BPS Dunakanyar and BPS Pécs carry this mission forward: nature-connected, sustainability-driven education combined with experiential and community-based learning help children experience school as something meaningful and real.
Both schools start with unique characters while staying true to the values of Budapest School, so more and more children can experience the joy of curiosity-driven, creative, and individualized learning.
